AMA Events is a subsidiary of AMA Theatre. AMA Events was formed in 2010 and was built on the culmination of many years of experience and techniques gained by Anna-Maria Albici and Ian Britten-Hull; from their work as performers, theatre directors and producers. Our aim is to produce popular shows for varying types of audiences such as young people, families and older people within their local community. This way we strive to make our shows more accessible and attractive to potential new audiences.
“Come and join the fun, there is something for everyone!”
I am proud of AMA Events and what I have achieved after several years of hard work striving towards realising my dream. I started my career as a dancer and have worked at some rather famous venues including The London Palladium. I spent much of my early career touring the British Isles which brought me into many local communities around the country. Here I was, a young dancer working in an industry of glamour and magic, yet I saw how many these communities had no quality fun shows. This is where the seed was first planted for the creation of AMA Events to bring fun shows into such communities.
For the past 10 years I have produced and directed several one-off projects as well as running AMA Events, delivering entertainment to various groups such as holiday parks, clubs and schools, care homes, and special needs groups.
As a performer, my TV appearances include Blue Peter and the Generation Game where the contestants had to learn one of my dance routines. I also spent time behind bars in ITV’s Bad Girls!
AMA Events has enormous challenges for me. One day I may be behind the sewing machine running up costumes, the next I am on stage as Aladdin or Albert Steptoe. Whatever I find myself doing, one thing is for sure, AMA Events is exciting and fun to be part of.
I am delighted to be working for AMA Events and I am excited about the plans and aims the company has as well as working on a variety of great productions. I am a professional actor / producer and I trained at Middlesex University in London in the early eighties. The great thing about my course was that we not only studied acting but all forms of theatre production including lighting design, sound production, set design and construction and costume design. This has been invaluable in my career when employed as either a director or producer.
I have been involved in bringing some great theatre projects to life and have worked as director, associate director and producer for various companies bringing theatre to local communities.
As a performer, I am lucky to have had a wide-ranging career. I have played Shakespeare including Macbeth for the English Shakespeare Company as well as playing Postman Pat in the national touring production of the famous children’s TV programme. I have worked in musicals as well as cabaret and have featured in many programmes on TV including ITV’s Kingdom and Brookside. Besides working to produce many shows with AMA Events, I love the variety of projects and shows that AMA Events has to offer. One day I might be the bad guy in their touring pantos, or become a detective in their murder mysteries dinner theatre.
